Biography
I am a third-year Ph.D. student. After pursuing my master's degree in Gender Studies in Iran, I had the privilege of serving as the senior assistant for the "Women's Worlds in Qajar Iran" project (http://www.qajarwomen.org/en/), a distinct digital archive hosted at Harvard University. Prior to my move to the US, I undertook graduate studies in Sociology at both Middle East Technical University (METU) and Ankara University in Turkey. My research during this period was focused on transnational feminist solidarities. In Turkey, I collaborated with organizations such as KAOSGL, the Gay and Lesbian Cultural Studies and Solidarity Association. I engaged with the United Nations (UN) on projects concerning LGBTQI refugees in the country. Upon arriving in the US, I earned a Master's degree in Sociology from the Maxwell School and secured an advanced certification in Gender Studies from Syracuse University. During my time at Syracuse, I had the enriching opportunity to contribute to the "Feminist Freedom Warriors (FFW)" project (http://feministfreedomwarriors.org/), a digital initiative housed within the Department of Women and Gender Studies. I'm deeply passionate about a spectrum of intersectional topics, such as the feminist movements in the Middle East and the genealogy of women's rights movements in Iran. I leverage digital technology to analyze multifaceted archives in these areas. My current research pursuits draw from my extensive involvement in social movements in both Iran and Turkey. This background steers my ongoing project, which delves into the intricate aspects of current social movements in Iran, emphasizing the roles and experiences of the youth and women.
